Choir hosted its annual “Home for the Holidays” Winter Concert to spread Christmas spirit and exhibit its talents on Thursday, Dec. 14.
The concert featured Voices of Wilson’s four choral groups: Aria, Sorellé, Harmony and Rhythm. The groups prepared by rehearsing their music daily for several weeks and attending off-campus sectionals.
According to choir director De’ John Brown, the students put in their best efforts to spread the Christmas spirit to their audience.
“To entertain and make our friends and family feel great about the holiday season, our ensemble worked [hard] to sing to the best of our abilities and [remembered] to have fun while [singing] as the Voices of Wilson,” Brown said.
President senior Angelina Susanto believes the Winter Concert benefitted the choirs and brought festive spirit to the audience.
“[Not only] is the Winter Concert a chance for us to learn and [grow] as [musicians], but it also fills the [audience] with joy and spirit for the holidays,” Susanto said.
Choir encouraged students and their families to attend by selling pre-sale tickets during lunch and at the door for five dollars.
Sorellé member freshman Sophia Zheng thought the night ended successfully and exceeded expectations.
“The concert was really successful, because I feel like [the choirs] did better at the concert than during rehearsals and really impressed our [audience],” Zheng said.
Choir’s next concert will be the Love Songs concert in February.
