Associated Student Body (ASB) hosted a halftime show during the football game against Baldwin Park HS on Oct. 12.
ASB planned to announce the homecoming king and queen during the show, but a thunderstorm delayed the reveal until the next night at the Homecoming Dance.
According to Homecoming King senior Jeffery Von, it would have been better to announce the winners on the night of the game.
“I would have preferred that ASB announced the king and queen at the game,” Von said. “[During halftime], there were more audience members, and it would have been more [sentimental with family].”
Despite the difficulties, ASB advisor Patricia Branconier-Habash appreciates everyone’s contribution and optimism throughout the night.
“I thank everybody for their support, [flexibility] and positivity, regardless of the unexpected weather,” Branconier-Habash said. “We [must] battle through situations like this, and it was nice to see everyone pulling together.”
Additionally, senior Madeline Gaitan believes that ASB handled the unanticipated rain well.
“When it started raining, most of the [spectators] ran off the bleachers,” Gaitan said. “[Yet], the ASB members stayed to clean up and [move] all the halftime decorations out of the rain.”
ASB will be hosting a costume contest during lunch on Halloween.
